Ever since I started teaching yoga in January 2021, life has been, well… full. A couple of classes a week quickly turned into a full-time whirlwind — morning Zooms, children’s yoga training, chair yoga teacher training, meditation training, workshops, after school clubs, SATs workshops, yoga summer camps, one-day retreats, hundreds of hours of training, more training, learning to use social media, hating social media, creating a website, writing blogs, marketing, admin, admin & yet more pesky admin, flyers, hashtags, headstands. All of it.

And honestly? It’s been brilliant. Challenging, energising, meaningful — and occasionally a bit bonkers except for the admin.

The only thing is… somewhere along the way, the very thing I invite my yogis to do at the start of every class — to shift from doing to being — slipped quietly off my own radar, buried beneath to-do lists and a never-ending stream of creative ideas and technical challenges. Yes, just being and creating space for spontaneous wild swims, meandering bike rides, and the kind of afternoons where nothing is planned and everything is possible.

So, after my final one-day retreat of the year on May 17th, which is rather fittingly called Finding Balance, I’ll be turning the volume down a little. Not vanishing — just easing off the pedal of constant output.

This retreat is a special one—a beautiful blend of yoga and art—created in collaboration with my long-time friend Liz Cooke, creative director of Fine Not Fine, a platform we set up back in the day dedicated to young people’s mental health. We’re coming back together again to end this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and there are still a few places left. If you’re craving a day to re-centre, create, and breathe, I’d love to see you there.

What does this pause look like?

It means less creating for the sake of keeping up, and more space to refill the well. I’ll still be:

  • Teaching my regular yoga classes
  • Running online meditation courses
  • Writing blogs when the inspiration lands (not when the algorithm demands it)
  • Practising what I teach (finally)

And you’ll still find me:

  • At West Stow for outdoor yoga this summer on
    Sunday 29th June, 20th July, 10th & 31st August
  • Popping up in Abbey Gardens on sunny Saturdays, as and when the British weather and my mood align (not yet on my website)

So, thank you — for showing up, for practicing with me, and for being part of this beautifully creative ride so far. I’m not going far. Just stepping back a little, so I can keep showing up with integrity, humour, and a bit more balance.

See you on the mat,
Jordanna
